Making a big difference to little lives
From preschool to high school, we’ve got your back!
Children develop at a remarkable rate. For parents it might seem that every time they blink their kid is outgrowing his or her clothes. Physical growth is not the only form of development occurring. With so many mental leaps in such a short period, children are particularly vulnerable to mental health challenges such as anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and trauma. Extensive research has shown that early treatment and intervention can substantially improve and change the trajectory for a child’s mental health with lasting implications in adulthood. Identification and reduction of environmental stressors such as academic challenges, family conflict, and environmental stressors can also substantially change the mental health outcome of a child.
Kids want someone that they can relate to and vibe well with. Parents want someone that they can trust to help their kid reach his or her full potential. At Mental Wealth, connection and rapport are always step one. We incorporate personalized and age-appropriate treatments to achieve results. We are here to help children thrive and enjoy their childhood to the fullest potential. Often times for children to reach their fullest potential, it also means working with the main adults in their lives to make adjustments in home and school environments, parenting techniques, routines, and support systems. We also understand that mental health challenges can be overwhelming for children, siblings, and caregivers, which is why we strive to create an environment at Mental Wealth that is warm, welcoming and problem-focused for all affected parties. Whatever it is that your child and family system need, we are here to prioritize your kid through empowerment and early interventions that translate to long term investments for the family. Our experienced child psychiatrist is committed to developing a treatment plan that caters to your family’s specific needs and goals.
All treatment for kids begins with a comprehensive assessment evaluating a child’s strengths and weaknesses. The goal is to understand the child in the context of their environment, including school and home. A thorough assessment of the family system will be done as well. Consent from legal guardians will be required and guardians will be included in various portions of the initial appointment. Our treatment approach values the importance of consultation and collaboration with key players in a child’s life including but not limited to parents, siblings, and teachers. We are well versed in working with schools in the DMV as well as collaborating with other medical providers, such as pediatricians, to deliver comprehensive and results driven care. Parent consultations and therapy are also offered to provide guidance on how to best help and support your child within the frame of your family circumstances.
